Good morning! We are essentially back to the pre-MoU status quo, where the Middle East occupies the majority of the news cycle without producing any major developments. We do cover it in the first two sections, but more interestingly we have a small scoop for you.
Then we move on to Colombia, where traders see an increased risk of joint US-Colombian anti-cartel military operations. Next on our agenda is AI—where we take a look at the newest Chinese model that rivals Fable 5, as well as a rather disappointing debut of Grok 4.6.
Lastly, we examine the Eurovision 2027 host city market, where an early move we wrote about a few weeks ago turned out to be real alpha.
Let’s take a look at the markets to make sense of the news!

Main Events Of The Day
#1 The Strait of Hormuz
Trade Strait of Hormuz Traffic on Stand
It gets repetitive, but we are still waiting for more details on a deal to open the strait (not to mention a wider US-Iran deal). We are essentially back to the post-April-7th status quo—limited kinetic action, a double blockade and some negotiations behind closed doors.
Prediction markets are trending down from the rumor-induced highs. Brent is following a similar pattern, up over 10% since the early August lows:
#2 Deescalation?
Trade Saudi Arabia Military Action Against Yemen on Stand
However, there are some positive signals across the Arabian Peninsula. The chances of Saudi Arabia attacking Yemen fell from 76% to 35%.
Houthi strikes didn’t succeed in provoking the Saudi military and traders have repriced accordingly. That de-escalatory signal suggests a wider deal is not doomed just yet.
#3 New Developments in Colombia
Trade US Strike on Colombia by…? on Stand
In the Americas, traders now see a 34% chance of US strikes on Colombia by the end of the year. The sudden spike was fueled by Hegseth’s announcement that the new President had authorized joint military ops against cartels.
Authorization and action are hardly the same thing, though—successful operations need careful planning and the cooperation is just starting. The end of year deadline is a bit tight, but there is a high chance the strikes will happen eventually.
#4 AI News
Trade Which Companies Will Have #1 AI model by EOY on Stand
Leaving politics behind, Chinese AI labs are closing the gap with American frontier labs—traders now give a 14% chance DeepSeek will have a #1 AI model at some point this year.
The spike was caused by the newest release from the Chinese lab:
Early evaluations put it on par with Fable 5 at a fraction of the cost.
In the meantime, the newest release from xAI, Grok 4.6, is disappointing:
Trade Grok Benchmark Performance on Stand
Preliminary results put it at 43rd place, behind Grok 4.5. Traders had higher expectations, probably fueled by constant Elon posting.
#5 Eurovision Upset
Trade Eurovision Host City on Stand
Lastly, an upset on a culture market. Only a few weeks ago traders gave a 94% chance Sofia would be the Eurovision 2027 host city.
However, at the beginning of August, the first traders began buying Yes shares on Burgas, shocking some observers. Turns out they must have had some alpha—Burgas won the contest.
We covered this market in our daily brief hours after the first tick upwards, becoming the first outlet to flag the shift in sentiment.
