Good morning! Today’s edition is all about war—from the kinetic conflicts in Iran and Ukraine, to trade and even culture “wars”. As usual, we start with Iran with an update around overnight developments. Then we move to Ukraine to check in on Russia’s recent probing of NATO airspace.
Leaving the kinetic wars behind, we turn to Cuba, where recent reports suggest a prolonged blockade of the island. Then we move on to US-China trade war, which appears to be heating up again.
Lastly, we have a rare culture market as traders are trying to figure out whether the newest Spider-Man can beat Avengers: Doomsday at the domestic box office this year.
Let’s take a look at the markets to make sense of the news!

Main Events Of The Day
#1 The Strait of Hormuz
Trade Strait of Hormuz Traffic on Stand
Iran and the Houthis continue their strikes on shipping, but the intensity is nowhere near the previous kinetic exchanges. We are in a frozen conflict scenario—no heavy fighting, but no meaningful diplomatic progress either.
The Strait of Hormuz traffic normalization markets have started to trend down across the board. Traders now give only a 25% chance the traffic will normalize by the end of November.
Oil is slowly going up, however without a major strike campaign, it is unlikely to spike above $100 per barrel (historically a level that forced a deescalation):
We are waiting for more developments.
#2 NATO Article 4?
Trade Another NATO Article 4 by…? on Stand
One more update from the war department. Recently, Russia has intensified its probing of NATO airspace by sending drones and missiles towards NATO’s eastern flank. In the past, such incidents resulted in NATO article 4 invocation—allies used it to agree on a response.
However, recent incursions didn’t result in article 4. It seems that NATO, after years of war, have established processes to react to Russian provocations. Traders see that—the chance of article 4 invocation by the end of the year fell from 39% to 32%.
Only a major escalation can push the market up now.
#3 Is It Time For Cuba?
Trade US x Cuba Diplomatic Meeting by…? on Stand
Moving to the Western Hemisphere, amid the ongoing Iran war, as well as recently escalating Ukraine war, chances of a US x Cuba diplomatic meeting fell from 51% to 9%.
Additionally, rumors say America is not looking to engage—it is looking to block all revenue sources of the island nation instead. US officials hope that an increasingly difficult economic situation will push some regime officials to defect. It’s a Venezuela-style strategy.
Considering that the Cuban regime provided the ideological basis for Chavismo, I believe it will be exponentially harder to create another Delcy Rodriguez there.
#4 No Relief For China
Trade Chinese Military Companies List Removals on Stand
Time to switch gears—from kinetic warfare to a trade war. Over the last couple of days, traders have sharply adjusted their forecasts around the Chinese Military Companies list.
Just a week ago, there was around a 40% chance some of the top tech companies from China will be removed from the list by June 30, 2027—now, traders give barely 20%. All because of the updated list that kept the top names in place and narrowed possible removals.
#5 Movie Wars
Trade Which Movie Has The Biggest Opening Week in 2026 on Stand
Today’s brief is all about war, even when it comes to culture markets. A couple of weeks ago, we flagged the possibility that the new Spider-Man movie could beat the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday for the biggest opening week box office—that’s no longer the case.
Only hours ago the market flipped. Spider-Man has already delivered a very respectable box office haul of over half a billion. Traders are betting that Marvel’s flagship Avengers will ultimately deliver the bigger opening.
Wrap up
